Greetings.............Again.

Well, busy would put it mild. Hectic, would surely imply things have been chaotic and stressful. A full plate, might give rise to suggestions about my waist size. So I will just say my cup runneth over, and it is all good!

I have not made any posts due to the exact placement of my cup. GO GO GO.......and that has been about it. Any spare time I have, I would rather be watching the ducklings on the pond or reading a book. There has not been much of that either, after chasing the apples of my eye. Most of you have been where I am, or you will be.

So if you wonder where I have been......................................................, now you sort of know. Nonetheless, when the season changes, and I get a bigger cup, or I just drink faster, then I will be more likely to beat the keyboard at night. Until then...............................you know.

IT'S ALL GOOD!

First Grade Orientation!

I have a thought for you. This thought came from the same idea, that has popped in my mind on many occasions. You have all probably had the same idea at one time or another, but you and I, seldom, if ever, acted on it. You see something, anything, that would help those who are struggling, and you think. You think, "that," would help this person, though we know there are some we just can't reach.

We all work with those who think they have it all figured out. Those who will not ask for help, input, ideas, and/or direction. We all work with, or have worked with someone who never asked how this great idea will affect us tomorrow, next week, next month, etc. WE have all felt the awkwardness of trying to make someones questionable idea work. We have all felt this, when we were unable or unwilling to give feedback. It seems some of us are in this position again, and any of my fellow brothers and sisters reading this know where I am coming from.

Well, anyway, you may wonder where I am going, but I was in grade school the other day with my daughter.

I took my baby to first grade orientation and I saw the Rules to Live by Poster, All I Really Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten. The author, Robert Fulghum, has made a fortune on his writings, and could help those who think they have it all figured out. I am not talking about taking a nap at work, or warm milk and cookies in the lobby. No, we have to conduct business.

Simplicity. The single, simple, and elementary idea of simplicity. We all know things are not simple, but who in the world has to make something so simple, such a flop. So I think back to the poster, and remember the words: share everything, play fair, say you are sorry when you hurt someone, stick together, clean up your mess, live a balanced life etc.etc... There were no words to the contrary of taking care of your own.

Well, I will probably not send this poster to those I think it would help the most. I will not send the most simple words on a framed poster, as it may be thought of as demeaning. My original thought had no malice. It was just a thought of checks and balances for those who, may or may not have, once cared about positive direction. A thought of humility, and ones ability to forget that most of us "took the road less traveled by."

I, like most of you, am willing to learn. I am willing to learn from my 4 year old, and learn from the drunkard on the corner. I am willing to change for many good reasons, yet unwilling to send a poster of the basics of life, to those who most certainly have forgotten.

However, given the opportunity, any little bit of inspiration will hang on the new walls. We all owe that to one another.

IT'S ALL GOOD!

Real Men Wear Pink!

Pop quiz hotshot! Your buddy logs into your blog and changes every color on it to some sissy lookin queer eye for the gay bomb guy motif (that's pronounced MoTeef, you Queef). What do you do? What do you do?

Answer: Hopefully, you just laugh and try to fix it! I haven't worked out in so long I wouldn't know where to begin....not that I could have done anything 18 months ago when I was the strongest guy I knew! I miss those days.

Greening Up.

I took a walk in the backyard with the little ones this evening. You know what I am referring to, you know, what a woodhooks' back yard looks like. Soak it up, the sounds and smells are back. The floor of the timber is changing to brown according to my color-blind brother. He knows it's green, it's just brotherly humor.

Bottom line, it all revolves around the mental massage. Therapy for the soul. A cleansing. It's all about the hunt.

The wonderous thing of it all, we are not taking arms to the field to down our prey. Each sunset brings thoughts of the upcoming hunt. The miserable rain, and silence left by the Snow Geese, push my mind towards the forest floor. I think more of blood running down my hands from tangling with briars and brambles. Thoughts of a November stand, and why one wasn't there last year. To cull a locust for the oak, and hacking the wild grape for the young buckeye.

Yes, my mind is wandering. The morel is taking shape in my thoughts. My little ones reminisce of the place I fell in the branch last spring. I thought it foolish to take them on that hunt, the woods eat little children you know. A lifetime of memories and two gallons of shrooms later, you just had to have been there.

I could go on about the doe my brother shot in January. While my other brother and I sat next to him. It's a long story, and we are all grown men (in body), so I will save it. I will never forget, in fact, I will cherish that miserable day forever. I'll save that for the appropriate season, if there is such a thing. But, you get the point.

I will not even dwell on the problems solved or mountains climbed while merely sitting in solitude. You see, it's all about the hunt. It's easier to explain it when I say it's all about the hunt. I could go on and on about the pleasures of the search. It's just easier to explain the experience with a four letter word.

Of course you know........IT'S ALL GOOD!

It's A Deal

Alright, we are gonna hit the woods. I am all for the KDM idea. Just in case you did not get my reply, I think we have a crew. Let's set a date between April 21 and the end of April. If everyone is flexible, we can do it when the weather looks best. It's kind of spur of the moment, but I hate to find dried up shrooms.

KDM, let us know what is good for you. Shrooms will be a bonus with a crew like this.

What are we gonna hunt next?

Hey all you hunters and no-hunters alike. I got a plan, let's take off a few days at the end of April and go mushroom hunting. I am gonna take a day or two off and go to Brown County. I thought some of the Investigator Types might like to go to Site M and get lost looking for Shrooms.

Just a thought.

I love Illinois weather. I plowed my lane twice today, and a two-wheel drive still would be stuck (Lovely wind). Tomorrow is a wood cutting day. I gotta get prepared for the out-door wood burner I have my eye on. The propane guy can stick it. I am gonna heat my house and water, with wood. Most everyone says it is work, but half you other knuckleheads pay for a membership at the Club.

It's like this. I get to be outdoors, I get a good sweat up, I am still young and healthy enough to cut wood..., and did I mention this is all outdoors.

Solar power is next, cause I am sick of my power bill going up for no good reason.

Anyway, I think Hass's network (danhassinger.com) will work like a charm. When I get DSL out here in the boondocks, it's all gonna get even better. I am gonna need a little help with this Hass, and you have more ambition than anyone I know. For your good deeds in the past, and your good deeds in the next month.....I say...Thanks Hass.

Color Schemes

Ronbo, I didn't want to make every blog look the same. I chose a template and modified the colors. I can make this thing any color combination you want, even colors that aren't on here. If you have a picture of a color, then I can match it using a 6 digit hex color code. All because I got it like that........

Hass

Besides you are always outside and green matches that!
What the hell do I know?
